The ACP filter is an automatic system that uses continuous backwashing, powered by a hydraulic motor. It operates independently of external power sources, as the driving oil is the same oil being filtered.
This filter is highly effective in maintaining Lube Oil quality by removing even the smallest particles, including carbon residues as fine as a few microns. This process prevents the dangerous accumulation of contaminants in the Lube Oil.
Additionally, the ACP filter can be custom-designed to perfectly integrate with the engine’s interface.
The ACP filter operates using only the energy from the Lube Oil itself. By utilizing filtered oil driven by a hydraulic motor for the continuous cleaning process, it eliminates the need for an external power supply or compressed air.
With its unique design, the ACP filter ensures high backwash efficiency without preferential flow routes. It uses only small quantities of flushing oil, which prevents any significant drop in operating pressure.
The filter features a high-quality ductile cast iron body and a stainless steel-armored cartridge capable of withstanding up to 10 bar (145 psi) of differential pressure. It requires no overflow valves or second filter stages for engine protection, thus extending the lifespan of the engine.
The ACP filter is easy to install and maintain, as it consists of just one filtering element and a few components, regardless of the filter’s size. No special tools or liquids are needed. It is also easy to retrofit into existing installations as an upgrade.

Thanks to its low backwash flow rate, Filtrex has developed an innovative solution consisting of an automatic ACP filter paired with a Centrifugal Oil Cleaner, which is directly installed on the backwash line.
In traditional systems, the impurities removed by the automatic filter during the backwash phase are concentrated in a dirty fluid, which is then sent to the lube oil tank. In the Filtrex ACP+CO solution, this backwash dirty fluid is directed to the Centrifugal Oil Cleaner, which thoroughly cleans the fluid before it is returned to the lube oil tank.
The ACP automatic filter uses less than 3% of the total flow for the backwashing process. This 3% is sent to the centrifugal cleaner before being returned to the oil tank. This ensures that the 3% of the flow contains 100% of the impurities removed by the filter. Conventional systems that place the Centrifugal Oil Cleaner downstream of the lube oil pumps, operating in parallel with the automatic filter, treat only 3% of the flow and remove just 3% of the impurities, rather than the full 100% captured by the ACP+CO solution.
By avoiding the accumulation of impurities in the lube oil, the Filtrex ACP+CO solution significantly improves oil quality. This results in notable benefits for engine components and all lubrication circuit equipment. Additionally, a simple inspection of the oil cleaner allows for the early detection of abnormal impurities, such as white metal, lints, water, and more, ensuring prompt action if needed.
The ACP+CO solution is ideal for retrofitting existing filters. It reduces spare parts costs and provides excellent engine protection. Based on several retrofitting projects, the return on investment typically starts within 5 months, depending on the filters already installed.
If a Centrifugal Oil Cleaner is already in place downstream of the lube oil pumps, the same size of Centrifugal Oil Cleaner can be installed in the ACP backwash line at no additional cost.

Filtrex has designed the Sludge Recovery Unit to meet market demands for effectively removing impurities from the lube oil circuit. The unit consists of a metal basket filter installed in the ACP backwash line, equipped with a 4-way valve and a pressure indicator. Strategically placing an ACP-RM filter within the system helps eliminate costly issues by protecting moving parts from wear while also serving as a monitoring tool for the entire circuit.
During the backwash phase, all impurities retained by the automatic filter are concentrated in a dirty fluid. The Sludge Recovery Unit further processes this fluid, removing larger impurities and delivering a cleaner fluid back to the oil tank. This process significantly enhances the quality of the oil supplied to critical engine components, such as crankshafts, bearings, cylinder liners, and piston rings, thereby improving reliability and extending the lifespan of the equipment.
The Filtrex ACP+RM design features a compact configuration that includes a built-in bypass valve, allowing maintenance of the Sludge Recovery Unit without interrupting engine operation. Equipped with a reusable metal filtering element, the unit can be easily cleaned when clogged, eliminating the need for disposable filter cartridges. This not only reduces maintenance costs but also minimizes environmental impact. Various sizes of RM units are available, tailored to match the specifications of the installed automatic filter.
