The Lamellar filter is an automatic mechanical cleaning system specifically designed for the filtration of heavy fluids such as heavy fuel oil, heavy crudes, and processing residues with high solid content.
This innovative filter consists of filtering elements assembled in compact filtering packs. Each filtering element is made up of a stack of calibrated metal disks, connected at the top to an electric motor that rotates them during the automatic mechanical cleaning process. The cleaning phase occurs simultaneously with filtration, ensuring a continuous and uninterrupted feed flow.
Filtrex’s lamellar filter technology eliminates wash oil consumption by utilizing an automatic mechanical cleaning system. Engineered for superior mechanical strength, the filter integrates rotating filtration disks within the filtering elements, significantly reducing plot area requirements and minimizing operational and maintenance costs.
The filtration and cleaning processes happen simultaneously, avoiding downtime and ensuring consistent performance. The rotating disks are automatically cleaned without requiring additional wash oil consumption.
By assembling rotating filtration disks into filtering elements, the system optimizes space usage, reducing the footprint and simplifying installation.
The lamellar filter operates at a low pressure drop of just 0.5 bar, whereas competitors typically function at 1.0-1.5 bar. This minimizes high velocities that could lead to contaminant agglomeration, such as asphaltenes, which can cause permanent blockage.
A fixed cleaner, positioned between two stacked disks, effectively removes particles and prevents buildup. As the filtering element rotates, the cleaner removes impurities, which then collect at the bottom of the filter. The typical filtering degree is 100 μm and above.
For highly viscous fluids, an optional steam cleaning system is available. Steam is injected through calibrated orifices, preventing adhesion and facilitating drainage while the filter is in stand-by mode. Each filtering disk and cleaner is thoroughly cleaned during this process.
The inclusion of a friction gear motor, greaser, and rotation indicators ensures long operational life and easy maintenance, making the system reliable and user-friendly.
